Briquette Production Stages
Briquettes are an alternative fuel made from organic materials such as charcoal, sawdust, coconut shells, or other biomass. Their use is increasingly popular due to being environmentally friendly, energy-efficient, and cost-effective. This article explains the detailed production process of briquettes, covering flat, cube, hexagon, and finger shapes.
1. Processing Raw Materials
- Charcoal preparation: Burn coconut shells or wood until they become charcoal. Avoid complete combustion to prevent ash formation.
- Grinding: Grind the charcoal using a milling machine into fine powder.
- Sieving: Sift the charcoal powder to separate large particles for uniform results.
2. Preparing the Binder Solution
- Mix tapioca flour with hot water to form a thick binder solution.
- The binder proportion is about 5-10% of the total weight of the charcoal powder used.
3. Mixing Materials
- Mix the charcoal powder with the binder solution using a mixer. Ensure the mixture is even and has a suitable consistency for molding.
4. Molding the Briquettes
- Choose the mold according to the desired shape:
- Flat: Flat shape for shisha.
- Cube: Cube shape for BBQ or shisha.
- Hexagon: Hexagonal shape with a central hole, suitable for BBQ due to better airflow.
- Finger: Cylindrical elongated shape, ideal for shisha.
- Insert the mixture into the mold, then use a pressing tool to produce denser briquettes.
5. Drying
- The molded briquettes must be dried until they are completely moisture-free.
- Drying methods:
- Sun-dry for several days.
- Use an oven or drying chamber at 50-60°C for faster results.
6. Quality Inspection
- Check whether the briquettes are sufficiently dense and not easily broken.
- Ensure the briquettes have a very low moisture content for optimal combustion.
7. Packaging
- Once dried, store the briquettes in plastic packaging or airtight containers to protect them from moisture.
- The briquettes are now ready for sale or use.
Advantages Based on Briquette Shapes
Flat:
- Stable flat shape, ideal for shisha heating.
Cube:
- Easy to burn with uniform size, suitable for BBQ or shisha.
Hexagon:
- The central hole provides good airflow, enhancing combustion efficiency, ideal for BBQ.
Finger:
- Small, elongated shape, easy to use for shisha and lightweight.
